The Indiana Senate votes 32-17 for the diluted constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. The joint resolution did not contain the portion that would have banned civil unions. It passed with a majority of Republicans supporting it and nearly all Democrats opposing it. Vaneta Becker of Evansville was one of five Republicans to vote against it. Senate approval of the revised amendment already passed by the House means the three-step process of amending Indiana's constitution restarts.
