This may sound like a tall tale, but it's true. A fiberglass giraffe has been recovered on Evansville's East Side. A Warrick County officer spotted a vehicle pulling into Sugar Creek Apartments on Green River Road just after midnight Thursday with the giraffe strapped to the top. He thought it looked suspicious and contacted local police. Officers later spotter the fiberglass animal in a nearby cornfield. It's believed it was stolen from Adventure Land Golf on Morgan Center Drive. No word of any arrests.

Legislation giving first responders more tools to help treat disaster victims is signed into law by Gov. Mike Pence. State Senator Vaneta Becker of Evansville says it enhances the authority and ability of first responders to practice tactical emergency medicine - which means care provided in the field before a patient arrives at a hospital. Pence signed the bill on the same day that bombs in Boston killed three persons and killed more than 170 others. Representative Suzanne Crouch of Evansville guided the bill through the House.

An Evansville man says he arrived home with his wife and friends in his car late Tuesday night, got out, and was robbed at gunpoint. It happened in the 1100 block of Marshall Avenue on the southeast side. The 26-year old man says two men ran up to the group, forced him to the ground, and one of them put a gun beside his head and threatened to shoot him. The man also says the guy with the gun pointed it at the others and threatened to shoot them. The men got away with his wallet and about $200, as the wallets of two others.

Fire damages a home on Evansville's North Side. A police officer alerted Central Dispatch about the blaze in the 2400 block of North Fares just after 1:00 Wednesday morning. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the house. They contained the fire to the kitchen. Authorities say nobody was home at the time, but the Red Cross was called to help three residents.
