A car hits a child at a busy Evansville intersection . It happened just before 3:00 Monday afternoon at Columbia and Garvin. Police say the child was taken to the hospital with elbow and chest injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. The child's name has not been released.

Police have cancelled a Silver Alert for an 85-year-old man under treatment for dementia. Authorities say Walter Junge has been located after disappearing from Extended America on Eagle Crest Boulevard early Monday morning.

The IRS is cracking down on people who claim to be either self-employed or parents who are claiming dependents for the earned income tax credit. Liberty Tax Service Manager Greg Carney says his office has sent many so-called self-employed people back home in search of 1099 forms and expense forms as proof that they actually work and have had work-related expenses. He says it‘s also the case for parents.

A legislative committee is set to consider an attempt to legalize existing game preserves around Indiana where hunters pay for a chance to shoot deer confined inside high fences. The House Natural Resources Committee could vote Monday on the proposal intended to allow four existing hunting preserves to stay in business while not allowing any new ones to open. State Rep. Matt Ubelhor of Bloomfield says the legislation is needed to resolve a lawsuit dating to 2005 over the state Department of Natural Resources' attempts to shut down the preserves.

A weekend car crash claimed the lives of a woman and her unborn child in southern Indiana. The accident occurred in Terre Haute on U.S. 41. Sheriff‘s officials say 29-year-old Erin Shook was driving a van that collided with a pickup truck. Shook was ejected from the van, which then rolled on her. Shook was transported to an Indianapolis hospital, where she died of her injuries. Doctors were unable to save the unborn child.

Two men are dead after their fishing boat capsized Saturday in Patoka Lake. Matt Buroker of Evansville and Ryan Dowdell of Winslow were taking park in a fishing tournament when their boat began taking on water. Two other companions were rescued when another fisherman heard their calls for help. Department of Natural Resources officials say the water temperature was around 45 degrees at the time of the accident.

Franklin Street Association is bringing new events to Evansville in one fun-filled celebration of Earth Day. A 5K Color Me FUN Run kicks off at 8am on April 20th, where participants run with a white shirt and get sprayed with non-toxic, eco-friendly paint at each kilometer. Kid-friendly activities start around 10, with face-painting, a farmer's market, and free seedlings. And around 40 businesses are working with artists to display recycled art projects. The event will wind down with a recycled outfit runway show at Lamasco Bar and Grill.

This month, you can wear jeans to work to raise awareness about child abuse. Holly’s House is partnering with local businesses and organizations in the “Blue Jeans for Prevention” campaign. The plan is for businesses and other groups to dedicate specific days where employees and associates can wear blue jeans. In return, employees are asked to make a donation to Holly’s House. Holly’s House is also providing blue ribbon pins for those settings where jeans are not appropriate at work.

Four persons are recovering from minor injuries after an explosion at the Crane Naval Warfare Center. Public Affairs Officer Tom Peske says it happened late Thursday afternoon as employees were cleaning-up a pyrotechnic facility at the southern Indiana base. Peske says the four employees were taken to Bloomington Hospital for examination and later released.

Henderson Police say a shooting incident involving three teens was accidental. Officials say all three teens were inside a car when one of the teens showed a gun to another teen in the car. They say the gun accidentally went off, wounding the teen it was being shown to. They say another teen was injured by debris from the discharge of the gun. Authorities say the injured teens were taken to Methodist Hospital and they are expected to make a full recovery. It happened at about 5:30 Thursday afternoon at the 3rd Street Boat Ramp.
