Narcotics stolen from St. Mary's

Evansville Police are looking for an employee of St. Mary's Medical Center suspected to stealing narcotics from the hospital. A police affidavit says hospital security guards learned than the employee was taking discarded vials of narcotics and keeping them for personal use. No word on the name of the suspect.

City to pay woman $25,000 over traffic stop

The city of Evansville has agreed to pay a woman $25,000 in connection with a traffic stop two years ago. Former police officer Dave Fehrenbacher made the traffic stop allegedly without a cause and made inappropriate comments to Courtney Taylor. The city's Safety Board has ruled that Taylor will receive $25,000 from the city because of the incident. More specific information about the traffic stop is not provided in the settlement.

Evansville police chase kids in car

Evansville police take two juveniles, not yet old enough to drive into custody after a west side pursuit Friday morning. Officers say it began about 2-am, with a report they were shooting fireworks out of a moving car. Police first tried to stop the kids at Broadway and Red Bank. They were finally stopped near Dearborn and Cumberland. The 15-year old driver and 14-year old passenger were arrested. Another passenger got out and ran, and hasn't been found.

Tennessee man arrested in Henderson after two county pursuit

A Tennesee man driving a stolen truck leads police on a high speed chase along the Pennyrile Parkway through Webster and Henderson Counties, before being forced to stop along the 41 strip. Officers say they had been told that the driver, 46-year-old Ralph Baier had previously tried to run down an officer, and had told police he would try to harm himself and any any police officer who approached him. Police say that after Baier refused to stop, he continued north at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

One seriously injured in Posey County crash

A southern Illinois man is in intensive care at St. Mary's, after a head-on crash on Highway-62, west of Mount Vernon and near the Wabash River Bridge. Posey County Sheriff Greg Oeth says 57-year-old Davy Miller of Carmi was eastbound when he crossed the center line and struck a car driven by 19-year-old Felicia Hampsten of Grayville. Miller's car then hit guardrail on both sides of the road twice. He's in critical condition. Hampsten and two passengers were treated and released. read more
