A bill that would create a pilot program to offer low-income families assistance in affording preschool clears the Indiana House. It would start in five Indiana counties. Eligible parents of 4-year-olds would receive up to $6,800 for a full-day program and $3,400 for a half-day program. Family and Social Services would supervise it. But, leaders in the Senate say they have to consider the cost of the program, which would not be funded until next year.

There's a decision in the case of an Owensboro priest, who had been accused of inappropriate conduct with a minor. Police say Father John Meredith will not be charged in the case. Investigators say the allegations are non-criminal in nature, and may be a violation of church policy, but not a violation of the law. Police say the minor is now an adult, and declined investigators' requests to be interviewed. No word from the church on what, if anything will happen to Meredith. He's been at Blessed Mother Church in Owensboro since 2008, and is on temporary suspension.
