Henderson authorities say "shock probation" led to the early release of a man who entered an Alford Plea to the shooting death of his wife. Just last summer, 37-year old Steven Cotter was sentenced to seven years in prison, after that plea to second-degree manslaughter. It had been amended from a charge of wanton murder, in the death of Michelle Cotter in the spring of 2012. An Alford plea means that the person charged is not admitting guilt, but believes the evidence strongly indicates guilt. Steven was freed last Friday.
